Policemen shoot dead SARS operative mistaken for kidnapper near Ngige’s house

A member of the Special Anti Robbery Squad in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state, has been shot dead by some policemen standing guard near the residence of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.
Reports say the policemen shot the SARS member dead after they mistook him for a kidnapper.
It was said that the ugly incident occurred when the SARS operative accompanied his colleague to the said area to arrest someone.
While putting handcuffs on their suspect, a resident who was unaware of their identity alerted the policemen standing guard at a nearby private residence, telling them some kidnappers had come to abduct someone in the neighbourhood.  It said the policemen immediately showed up at the residence and opened fire on the SARS operatives.
“As soon as the policemen arrived the scene and saw the SARS operatives, they opened fire at them and gunned down the deceased, thinking they were kidnappers. It was minutes after that his colleagues identified him as a SARS operative on special duty,” the source stated,” said a source who spoke to Punch reporter on phone.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have asked micro-blogging site, Twitter, to block the handle of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Yomi Shogunle over his tweet against #EndSARS campaign launched against alleged SARS brutality of innocent Nigerians.
Irked by Shogunle’s tweet, the Nigerian users of the micro-blogging site launched a campaign, calling on people to unfollow Shogunle’s  handle while they equally reported the handle to Twitter for blockage.
