Jigawa to begin exportation of goats to Kuwait, others
Jigawa State Government said it would soon begin to export goats from its goats multiplication farming programme.
It said it would consider Kuwait and other Asian countries as its destinations.
The state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, made the disclosure while speaking on Wednesday during a seminar on “Validation Workshop on Capacity Gaps for Implementing Holistic Empowerment for Livelihood Programme (HELP)”
The governor said in line with the conditions of the programme, most beneficiaries of the programme have returned three goats each to the government as interest on goats earlier distributed to them.
In 2016, the state government had distributed 3 goats each to over 600 women under the state’s goats multiplication farming programme to empower women and reduce poverty rate in the state.
“As soon as we have enough of these goats we will export them to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, just to mention a few.
“Now we have large number of goats which in the next few months or years we will be able to export the necessary requirements to Kuwait,” he said.
