Tanzania coach Amuneke happy to take on new challenge
Newly-appointed coach of the Tanzania national football team, Emmanuel Amuneke, says he is happy and ready to take up the new challenge.
The former Nigeria international signed a two-year deal with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to oversea the the Taifa Stars, who are in Group L of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
His first competitive game comes up in September when Tanzania face Uganda in Kampala in an AFCON qualifier.
“I’m proud to sign my new contract with the Tanzanian Football Federation,” Amuneke wrote on his Instagram Page after his unveiling.
“We’ll work hard to continue the development of football in this country. It’s a new challenge for me and I’m happy for the new ideas. Tanzania have what football requires. I’m ready for the next step and I’m happy for the new challenge.”
Amuneke was formerly manager of Al Khartoum SC of Sudan, before replacing Salum Mayanga who had been in charge of Tanzania since last year.
47-year-old Amuneke will also head the affairs of the U-20 and U-17 football teams.
